Undated (c. 1930s-1940s) · 2 pages
Synopsis
A large, heavily worn mailing envelope originally printed for a 'Catalogue' from the Stephen Putney Shoe Company of Richmond, Virginia (U.S. Postage Paid, Permit No. 118), that was reused as a file folder for town records. Pencil writing on the front reads 'File of the Town of Wedowee Ala. Randolph Co.' and 'J. E. Perry, Clerk,' with the name partly struck through and a faint 'Wedowee Ala.' rubber-stamp impression. The back is penciled 'J. E. Perry, Wedowee Ala.' The envelope appears to have held Town of Wedowee papers kept by J. E. Perry while serving as town clerk, and may be the container in which some of the documents in this collection were preserved. It is undated.
