Synopsis
A carbon copy of a December 1933 letter from George J. Davis, Jr., State Engineer of the Public Works Administration (P.W.A.), on letterhead of the Federal Emergency Administration of Public Works, State Advisory Board, Montgomery, Alabama. It is addressed to the Administrator of the Public Works Administration in Washington, D.C. Davis reports sending, under separate cover, four copies of an engineer's report and three copies of Wedowee's application for a loan for waterworks. The project is listed as 'Eng. Ref. No. 111 - Wedowee, Alabama - Waterworks - $35,000.' A copy went to Town Clerk J. E. Perry, and a date stamp reads December 26, 1933. This is one of the earliest records of Wedowee's effort to get federal New Deal money to build a public water system.
