Synopsis

A typed letter (unsigned file copy) from W. H. Perry, Mayor of the Town of Wedowee, to the Goodwin Engineering Co. of Birmingham, Alabama. Perry apologizes for the delay in sending the company's check for $150.00, explaining that the town was still working on plans for the water works and would need the firm's engineering help if the plans materialized. He reports that the town was using, in an emergency, a new well that had recently been bored, and notes that a Mr. Milford, apparently now with the Goodwin firm and formerly the State Inspector in Wedowee, knew about the well. Perry asks what it would cost to 'medicate' (treat) the water from this well so it would pass State inspection. The second page is a blank reverse. The letter documents the 1940 water supply shortfall, the boring of a new well, and the town's concern with meeting state water-quality standards.
