Synopsis

A printed State of Alabama, Randolph County, Inferior Court appearance bond form completed by hand. Dal Johnson and his sureties agree to pay the State of Alabama a sum written as 'Twenty Five & Two [?]' dollars unless Johnson appears on Friday, July 19, before Mr. Hugh Perry, the mayor of the Town of Wedowee, to answer a charge (the offense is written only as initials that are hard to read). The printed wording about the next term of the Inferior Court is struck through and replaced by the handwritten appearance before the mayor. The bond is dated July 13, 1940 (the printed '193_' altered to 1940) and carries the marks or signatures of Dal Johnson, Sol Johnson and two other sureties. The folded back panel is the blank Sheriff's Office docket cover. The item is not about the water system but documents the mayor's court function in Wedowee around 1940 and was kept among the town's records.
